Ezekiel Elliott Returns to the Dallas Cowboys
The Star Running Back is Back in Action
The Dallas Cowboys have officially brought back former All-Pro running back Ezekiel Elliott, agreeing to terms on a new contract on Monday. Elliott, who turns 29 in July, returns to the team after finishing the 2022 season with 642 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 184 carries – a career low.
Why the Cowboys Reunited with Elliott
Despite his decline in production over the past few seasons, the Cowboys believe that Elliott still has plenty to offer. His experience, leadership, and ability to make big plays remain valuable assets to the team. Additionally, the Cowboys recognize the importance of having a strong running game to complement their high-powered passing attack.
Elliott's Career Statistics
Over his seven seasons in the NFL, Elliott has rushed for 8,842 yards and 69 touchdowns on 2,010 carries. He has also caught 133 passes for 1,007 yards and two touchdowns. Elliott was named to the Pro Bowl three times (2016, 2018, 2019) and was named an All-Pro twice (2016, 2018).
