The Milwaukee Brewers have hired former Foley & Lardner partner Patrick Ryan as their new general counsel, the team announced Monday.
Ryan, a Milwaukee native, has over 20 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on sports law and business transactions. He has represented professional athletes, teams, and leagues in a variety of matters, including contract negotiations, salary arbitration, and intellectual property disputes.
Ryan is a graduate of Marquette University Law School and has been recognized as a leading lawyer in the field of sports law by several publications, including Best Lawyers in America and Chambers USA.
In his new role, Ryan will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters for the Brewers, including contract negotiations, compliance with league regulations, and litigation.
"We are thrilled to welcome Patrick to the Brewers organization," said Brewers President of Business Operations Rick Schlesinger.
"His extensive experience in sports law and business transactions will be a valuable asset to our team. We are confident that he will be a key member of our leadership group."
Ryan said he is excited to join the Brewers and contribute to the team's success.
"I am honored to have the opportunity to work with such a storied franchise," Ryan said.
"I look forward to using my experience to help the Brewers achieve their goals on and off the field."
