Dominion Energy Offshore Wind Project Surges Forward

50th Monopile Foundation Installed for Massive Coastal Virginia Project

RICHMOND, Va., May 22, 2024 - Dominion Energy announced today the installation of the 50th monopile foundation for the 26-gigawatt Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project. This milestone marks a significant step forward in the construction of the largest offshore wind project in the United States.

Project Remains on Budget and on Schedule

The CVOW project, located approximately 27 miles off the coast of Virginia, is expected to generate enough electricity to power over 650,000 homes. Dominion Energy remains on budget and on schedule, with construction expected to conclude in late 2026.

Dominion Energy's Commitment to Renewable Energy

The CVOW project is part of Dominion Energy's commitment to invest in renewable energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Dominion Energy plans to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 55% by 2035, compared to 2005 levels, and achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Driving Economic Growth and Job Creation

In addition to its environmental benefits, the CVOW project is expected to create jobs and economic growth in the Hampton Roads region of Virginia. The project is expected to create over 11,000 full-time-equivalent jobs during construction and over 1,100 permanent jobs during operation.
