Oilers Beat Flames in Battle of Alberta

Skinner, Nugent-Hopkins Lead the Way

Edmonton Advances to Third Round of Playoffs

The Edmonton Oilers have eliminated their biggest rival, the Calgary Flames, with a hard-fought 5-4 overtime victory in Game 5 of their second-round NHL playoff series. The win sends the Oilers to the third round of the playoffs for the first time since 2017.

Stuart Skinner made 26 saves for the Oilers, while Sam Gagner scored the game-winning goal in overtime. Nugent-Hopkins had a three-point night with a goal and two assists. The Flames got goals from Elias Lindholm, Andrew Mangiapane, and Mikael Backlund, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Oilers' offensive firepower.

The Oilers will now face the winner of the series between the Colorado Avalanche and the St. Louis Blues in the Western Conference Finals. The Flames, meanwhile, will head home and prepare for next season.
